The Show Band’s May 13th Concert

Dear Friends and Music Lovers,

The Ontario Chaffey Community Show Band and John’s Custom Installations are proud to present “The British Invasion” on Monday, May 13, 2019.  The city will provide 150 chairs for our fans or you can bring your lawn chairs and/or blanket and make your own spot in the grass in front of the Bandshell at the beautiful Ontario Town Square.  The square is located one block East of Euclid Ave. at the corners of “C” Street and Lemon and “B” Street and Lemon.  Complimentary cookies and Starbucks coffee will be served at 7:00 p.m.  The concert begins at 7:30 p.m. and is FREE to the public.

The British Invasion was a cultural phenomenon that developed in the early 1960’s and lasted through the middle 1970’s.  The concert celebrates a repertoire of musical hits from that era that were recorded and popularized by rock groups from the United Kingdom.  The Beatles were the centerpiece of this musical and cultural movement.  However, other English rock groups also played a major role.  A number of these groups and their hit songs that are featured on the program include “I Can’t Get No Satisfaction” by The Rolling Stones, “The House of the Rising Sun” by The Animals, “My Generation” by The Who, Elton John’s “Benny and the Jets,” “I’m Into Something Good” by Herman’s Hermits, “Glad All Over” by The Dave Clark Five, and Queen’s iconic “Bohemian Rhapsody.”  In addition, a number of hit songs recorded by The Beatles will be performed on the program.

The evening’s special guest artist will be solo vocalist Dr. George Matamala.  George has performed with great success in several Show Band concerts over the past several years.  He will sing four hit songs from The Beatles library; “Here Comes the Sun,” “Norwegian Wood,” “Hey Jude” and “Yesterday.”  In addition, the concert will feature the outstanding musicians of the Ontario Chaffey Community Show Band.  The performance will be narrated by City of Ontario Assistant City Manager Al Boling and Lisa Harper.

Join us for a great night of music under the stars while having a hot cup of FREE STARBUCKS COFFEE, and put some green stuff in the Hungry Tuba.  We will also have many of our DVD’s available for a small donation.  This concert will be broadcast on local Ontario cable Channel 3.  Check your cable listings for the date and time.  For additional information regarding these performances or the rest of Show Band’s upcoming concert season, please check our website at www.showband.net and follow the Show Band onFacebook, Twitter, YouTube, and Instagram.
