Ontario/Chaffey Community Show Band
1245 North Euclid Avenue, Ontario, CA, United States | (909) 226-5748
The Ontario/Chaffey Community Show Band is a musical organization that operates under the auspices of the Chaffey Adult School and receives financial support primarily from the City of Ontario. Band members do not live just in Ontario, but reside in at least two dozen communities located throughout Southern California. The band rehearses on Monday evenings from 7 to 9:30 p.m. in the Jack Mercer Band Room (building behind the auditorium) on the campus of Chaffey High School located at 1245 North Euclid Avenue in Ontario, between 4th and 5th Streets. Adult musicians are always welcomed. There are no auditions. Just come to a regular Monday evening rehearsal with an instrument.
The band performs concerts at the historic Gardiner Spring Auditorium on the Chaffey High School campus. All performances are free of charge. The band also performs for city sponsored events at the “Jack Mercer Bandstand” located at the corner of Euclid Ave. and “C” Street, the Ontario Convention Center, and Bellevue Memorial Park.
The band originally performed in the Merton E. Hill Hall Auditorium, one of the oldest standing school structures in southern California and located at the site of the famous Chaffey campus clocktower. The Show Band now resides at Gardiner W. Spring Auditorium, located a block south. This beautiful performing arts facility was built by the community with WPA funds during the Great Depression, and was completely refurbished in 1996 by the school alumni association. It now hosts many outstanding school and professional performances.
