Sheets, Sheets & Caughman: Art for Living and Living Art

February 2, 2017 - March 26, 2017

Free

sheets

February 2017 will bring a first to CCMA — a joint exhibition with the Ontario Museum of History and Art called Art for Living and Living for Art. The exhibition features three artists — Millard Sheets, Tony Sheets and CCMA artist member Rick Caughman. What these three artists share is a duality of their art. Each created art for commercial and public art applications, and each produced a significant body of art for their own pleasure.

The Ontario Museum of History and Art, located directed across the street from CCMA, will host Art That Works, an exhibit of the commercial art of the three artists. Concurrently, CCMA will host Pure Pleasure, an exhibit of fine art created by the artists without any constraints from patrons or others.

The intent of the exhibition is to demonstrate that success in commercial art and fine art are not mutually exclusive. The exhibition will include new and rarely-exhibited art encompassing the decades from the 1920s to the present.

Exhibit dates are February 2 through March 26, 2017. The artist reception is Sunday, February 12 from 2 pm to 4 pm.
