The Ontario Chaffey Community Show Band is excited about the upcoming 2016-2017 concert season.  Our season opening performance, “A Touch of Jazz,” will be held on Monday, September 19, 2016 at historic Gardiner Spring Auditorium located on the campus of Chaffey High School, 1245 N. Euclid Ave. Ontario 91762.  The concert features two local professional Jazz musicians, saxophonist Steve Alaniz and singer/pianist Aimee Nolte.  Also featured are singers Lydia Tolman of the vocal trio “The Lemon Drops” and Show Band concertmaster/vocalist Chris McAleer.  Early concert goers are invited to come at 7:00 p.m. to hear “The Woodwind Celebration” clarinet ensemble and enjoy complimentary cookies and Starbucks coffee.  The concert begins at 7:30 p.m. and is FREE to the public.

The program pays tribute to Jazz, one of the true American art forms.  Included are several famous Jazz works such as “Moanin'” recorded by Art Blakey and Jazz Messengers, “‘Round Midnight” by Thelonius Monk, Herbie Hancock’s “Watermelon Man,” and “The Preacher” by Horace Silver.  In addition, concert goers will be treated to a number of popular songs that include “I’m Old Fashioned,” “Save Your Love For Me,” “The Shadow of Your Smile,” “Stella By Starlight,” Earth, Wind and Fire’s “September,” and a number of original pieces by Show Band director Dr. Gabe Petrocelli.
