Southland Symphony Orchestra presents Mozart Masterpieces!
The Southland Symphony invites you to experience the magic of Mozart at “Mozart Masterpieces”, featuring soloists Nancy Roth and Sylvia Lee Mann. Sunday, March 6th, 2016 at 4pm, at Bethel Congregational Church, UCC in Ontario, California.
The Southland Symphony Orchestra is pleased to present “Mozart Masterpieces”, featuring soloists Nancy Roth, violin and Sylvia Lee Mann, viola, under the direction of Music Director & Conductor Sylvia Lee Mann, and Assistant Conductor George Osorio.
This concert marks the 3rd concert of the orchestra’s 5th season in Ontario. Remaining concerts for this Season include this “Mozart Masterpieces” concert on Sunday March 6th, 2016; and the Season Finale, now planned for May 15th, 2016. Check out the promo video link, below!
Of special interest in this concert, is the fact that Dr. Sylvia Lee Mann, the music director and conductor of the group, will also be performing the viola solo in Mozart’s exquisite “Sinfonia concertante for Violin, Viola and Orchestra, K 364”. She is joined by violinist Nancy Roth in this one-of-a-kind musical work. Both soloists are highly regarded performers from the Southern California area, often found performing with such ensembles as the Chamber Orchestra of the South Bay, the Culver City and Marina del Rey Symphony Orchestras, the Pasadena Symphony and more. This is a “not-to-be-missed” opportunity!
Also on this program: the Overture (Intrada) to Mozart’s first opera, “Apollo and Hyacinth”, written at age 11, and the profound Symphony No, 40 in G minor. Dr. Mann will conduct the Symphony No. 40,. The orchestra’s assistant conductor, George Osorio, will be leading the orchestra in the Overture and the “Sinfonia Concertante”.
A $5 donation is requested, but not required, for entrance. The $5 donation entitles the giver to door-prize tickets- and those door-prizes are always great!
