In the Fall of 2014, volunteers and downtown arts stakeholders partnered with the Ontario City Council to launch a strategic planning initiative, to highlight existing and bring new arts and culture programs to the Downtown District. With the incorporation of the new Ontario Town Square, stakeholders noticed a great opportunity to incorporate arts and culture programming with this facility. This is an exciting project for the City of Ontario to partner with the Greater Ontario Convention & Visitors Bureau and with the various community stakeholders to focus on arts and culture in Ontario.
Members from the following organizations have been participating in making Ontario the focal point for arts and culture in the region:
- Chaffey Community Museum of Art
- Emporia Arts District – Art Walk
- Greater Ontario Convention & Visitors Bureau
- Museum of History and Art, Ontario
- Ontario Heritage
- Ontario Town Square
- Ovitt Family Community Library
At the 2015 State of the City, the Ontario City Council announced the Ontario Arts and Culture website to help establish a central place to find all the arts and culture amenities that are in the City of Ontario as well as a centralized calendar for upcoming events. With this endeavor, Ontario will become the arts and culture center of the region.
